Skin Care Professionals... Advance your career in Clinical Aesthetic Procedures

Since the late 1980's and into the early 1990's the aesthetics in~ustry has been gaining momentum In the direction of collaborating skin care with the medical community. Plastic surgeons and dermatologist alike have embraced this concept as "additional cash revenue." Specific skin care product manufactures have found a profit in catering to this specific group of professionals with "physician formula specialty products" that have been used and sold in the physician's office only. Does this mean you are a Medical Aestheticians? What is Medical Aesthetics as opposed to Clinical Aesthetics? There is no real debate on this issue, just clarification.

Medical Aesthetics has been defined as medical cosmetic procedures and treatments that are required by law to be administered by a licensed medical professional such as a physician, nurse or other medical practitioner. Treatments may include cosmetic surgical procedures, specific lasers, injectables, light therapy, ultra sound, invasive chemical peels or aggressive skin care to correct specific skin conditions to name a few.

Clinical Aesthetics has been defined by many as cosmetic procedures and treatments administered by licensed skin care professionals with advanced training. These limited medical modalities and skin care products do not require a medical professional to administer the treatments or the sale of products. Procedures and treatments include specific lasers, chemical peeling, mechanical modalities, advanced skin care products. These types of services can be offered in a medical or clinical setting. Clinical aesthetics can be offered in salons, med spas and day spas.
